Yuri University v0.63 released!

The latest update for Yuri University, v0.63, is now available! It's currently up for donations of $10+, and will be completely free in one week (21st of December).

This update adds three new side character scenes, and major updates to two game mechanics. First, there's a new scene with Alex. They invite you round to play a game, and you wind up playing strip blackjack! Next up, the winner of the patreon poll, Emily has a new scene! Walking through the corridors, you hear a familiar noise, and see a familiar face... The third scene is Maple inviting you round to watch a film! Things don't exactly go to plan... they might just go better!

The next part of the update are the two updated systems. Firstly, the phone background system has been overhauled to look and play better, and to further emphasise collectability you can now unlock backgrounds by replaying scenes (which you can also do from your bedroom now)!

The second system to be updated is objectives. There are more of them, they're better presented, and now give you rewards when completed!

There's a full changelog below if you'd like all the details. In addition to this update, I've added new wallpaper sets for donations of $5 and $15, featuring the side characters. These wallpapers are ones already available on my patreon page, but if you're not subscribed there then they will be new to you!

New content:

  • 160 images.

    • There are more images than usual for a side character scene due to variations – the length is about the same as similar scenes.

  • 8 animations.

    • + 3 new phone backgrounds to unlock afterwards.

New features:

• Revamped the phone background selector to look better and be easier to use.

• Overhauled the Objectives section of the phone guide.

  • There are more objectives, you get a notification when you complete one, and each completed objective has a reward that you can claim from the Objectives screen.

  • Already completed objectives will be marked as such when you load a previous save, and you will be able to claim the rewards from the screen.

• You can now text Alex after their scene 1.

• You can now text Maple after her scene 1.

• You can now text Emily after her new scene 2.

  • If you are missing any of her phone backgrounds, she will occasionally text you and send one.

• You can now access the replay menu from your bedroom.

• New cheat added: unlock all images in each category of phone backgrounds.

Tweaks and adjustments:

• Rolled selfie collection into phone backgrounds.

  • There is no longer a separate section just for selfies, you will instead find them in the relevant section of phone backgrounds (specific character or group).

• Rolled bonus images into phone backgrounds.

  • These are still bought from the in-game shop, but are now found in the phone background section rather than the game menu.

  • There are no longer requirements for any of the backgrounds to appear in the shop: they’re all available from the beginning.

  • The bonus image section of the game menu has been removed.

  • Any previously bought bonus images will automatically be unlocked as phone backgrounds.

• You can now unlock phone backgrounds whilst replaying scenes.

  • You can unlock backgrounds of MC taking selfies in different lingerie by replaying Ezri’s scene 4 and choosing a different lingerie.

• If you missed a Scarlett background only available early in the relationship, you can now request it by chatting with her whilst in PJ’s.

• Added a new Scarlett background for completing her scene 4.

  • If you’ve already completed this scene, the background will automatically unlock upon loading your game.

• Removed the money reward from MC’s parents after passing an exam.

  • This has been replaced with a reward from the new objective system.

• Increased the affection requirement for each relationship level scene after the first by 5 (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 → 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100).

  • There have been new ways to gain affection added previously (such as texting), and more are included in this update, to keep the grind to a minimum.

• Affection gain from giving a favourite gift increased from 2 to 3.

• All characters now have 1 or 2 “liked” gifts, which give 2 affection when gifted.

• Increased the affection gain for completing a relationship level scene from 3 to 5.

• Previous side events that awarded 1 affection per character now award 2.

• Added affection gains to RPG scene 3.

• Reshot 10 animations for reduced file size.

• Reshot 1 old Emily phone background.

• Slightly reduced the chance of encountering Maple’s scene 1.

• Reduced the number of interactions with Chikage/Librarian required to unlock a job in the cafe/library from ~5 to ~3 (depending on choices).

• Removed the developer note at the end of Chikage’s and the librarian’s scenes about future content.

  • Some scenes are still planned, but they are low priority at the moment.

• Added the capacity to display up to 5 notifications at once.

• Removed the “Back” option from the MC bedroom menu to keep the size the same now that “Replay scene” has been added.

  • The “Exit” option is still present, taking you out of the bedroom and straight to the uni map.

• Adjusted the one-shot books.

  • Reduced stat gain from +7 to +5.

  • Reduced chapters from 3 to 1.

• Reduced the number of chapters in the speed reading skill book from 10 to 8.

• Added a bedroom chat conversation variant with BFF during the day about her level 6 scene.

• Added dialogue variant for showering with BFF morning event if she’s your girlfriend.

• Adjusted some dialogue and notifications for repeatable events (e.g. exercising in the gym with people) to better utilise the new multiple notifications system.

Bug fixes:

• Fixed a bug where the texting phone screen would disappear and reappear when a choice menu was shown.

• Fixed a bug where Freya’s entry in the phone guide could move around when hints were shown.

• Fixed the number of random events available being too low.

• Fixed an oversight where the stat tracker would not show when texting people.

• Fixed an oversight when texting Ezri in her bedroom, she would say she was around campus.

• Corrected a few typos.
